What is a Lutheran?

Lutherans are Christians.
We believe in the Triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  We believe the Bible is God’s Word and our guide for understanding who we are, where we fit, and what our life’s purpose is.

We WITNESS the love, forgiveness, and MERCY of Jesus Christ as we live LIFE TOGETHER as a body of Christ.  We do this by proclaiming Jesus to be Lord of our lives; this means we serve and love our neighbor as ourselves.

Lutheran teachings can be summarized by three short phrases:

Grace alone
God loves us, even though we don’t deserve it,

Faith alone
By His death on the cross, Jesus gives us eternal life.  Those who believe this good news will live forever.

Scripture alone
The Bible is God’s Word, the only standard for what we believe and teach.
